Also when you do a site:yourdomain.com seach you never see more then a 1000 results with omitted results, even if there is 13000 or whatever.
I think that kind of filtering is bull, why not show every pages, many sites maybe include different images with same text or some have same title and discriptions, then they are filtered.
Dont they have the power anymore to cache or show all the pages? - maybe they should stop creating there own pages of 302 links or index www-domain.-c.om which then come with a error page.
Omitted results are things that Google thinks are duplicate content. Having the same meta description on every page of your site is enough to trigger it.
Google limits their results to two pages per domain in the SERPs. When you click the link for "show omitted results" you get an unlimited number per domain. You would not want that in normal results: some spammer managing to fill the first 1001 spaces with pages from his own site... no-one else would get a look in.
A year or 2 ago you did not get the omitted results that quick as now, also I see with a search with 20mill results the omitted comes after 8 pages, that is a little crazy.
