I've heard many people say it takes anywhere from 2 months to 1 year to get out of the sandbox.....? Do you guys know the correct answer? Also if there's any methods to get out of the sandbox faster, can you please comment. Thanks in advance!

I think, the current queue is about 9 months. Two of our sites were released in April and went out from the sandbox just before the New Year. The other one from August is still there.

I am afraid no one knows how to avoid or get out from the sandbox earlier. The good thing is that the sandbox affects only competitive keywords, thus if your site covers not hot areas you may not suffer from it.

How do you know if you are in the sandbox and not on hold for any other reason?

Is there any indication that a newly submitted site is 'sandboxed'?

When your site got out of the sandbox did you receive high rankings right away?

Well, getting out from the sandbox means that your site can be found for certain competitive keyword. It doesn't mean ranking high at all. Ranking depends on goolge ranking algo, while sandbox, I think, is completely different thing.
One of my site was created in April, it received a good inbound link from our main pr6 site and was crawled almost instantly. That site has never been changed since then. For all 9 months it could be found in google for some very rare keywords but not for it's main keywords. And suddenly it appeared on the second page of SERPs.

May be it's not a sandbox, may be it's kind of indexing queue for hot keywords. I don't know.

January 3rd I launched my first new domain in two years. Haven't gone in the sandbox yet.

My most recent domain before this one, went right in the sandbox, but I was using adwords from the 3rd day of that site's launch. I've been told adwords doesn't cause the sandbox but...

The idea of a "queue" that has a time length attached to it doesn't line up with experiences. In fact, he idea of a "queue" is one reason people (including Google) don't feel that sandbox is an accurate name.

Yes, there are algorithm factors that can delay new domain pages from showing in search results -- a "sandbox-like effect" if you will. But it's not like you just do your time and then get released. I've seen out in 3 weeks and out in 8 months, and both happened this January.

Here's a good discussion from earlier this month about what to do while "sandboxed" -- hope it helps:

I started my site on November 2nd. Yesterday (1/26/06)
my site has 51 entries in g. Before yesterday it only had the index page. A few of my keyword searches lands me on page 2,3 and 15.
I do have ad words going and I also emailed g about a cache problem 3 days ago. Maybe that helped as I asked them to re crawl my site.
