Google's marriage with old pages

So the first site I ever made(October of 2002) got ranked first for the keywords I worked on around mid 2004. I never even noticed at first cause it is a humor site and it never made enough money for me to continue putting in the effort. Anyways, Since then I've gone for similarly competitive keywords and not really had much luck. My theory is that Google puts a lot of weight on age, the older the better.

Has anyone noticed a maximum age at which a page doesn't gain anymore from being old? Also has anyone had luck getting a new site to do anything in google in its first six months?

I created a new site in Mid-November 2005, it's now ranking on position 12 for a 2-word phrase with 3,510,000 results.

So, definitely no sandbox, I guess...

Hi,

I bought a domain,designed and SEO:ed my site on 21:st of November 2005.

It was on Googles first place for a three word search with 3,190,000 hits...

Is that any good?

surin_p3,

The reason is "freshbot", nevertheless first position in 2 weeks is a bit surprising. I guess this three words phrase is not very popular one and doesn't get a lot of searches, or does it?

Well...

I am still on the first page. My other site is on second place (which has been around for almost two years).

My two sites have very similar products, but for different geografical locations.

The words are very relevant for the stuff I sell. But of course there are other words that would bring more visitors.
