Home page now shows no title or description -- after 7 years online

Hi
I have to get to the bottom the problem i have and i could do with some serious help please.
Let me start by saying that since August last year my site which has been around since 1999 has pr of 4 has has been well ranked in google for the past 5 years developed a google problem.
My home page for some reason is not being updated, no title, desription, no nothing. However all pages below are being updated. I have tried many things but no joy.
I have found myself going around in circles, so i ask you where shall i start and what shall i check.
So you know, my pages are asp, and my page rank still exists at 4 so therefore it doesnt appear that i have been penalised!
My site is fine with other search engines, my w3.org is also 100% valiadted!

I have a site with that problem but it doesn't have a /index page - my / page is 301 redirected to /catalog/index.php which still gets regularly updated, but if you search for [mysite.com...] there is no home page listed.
It used to be ok until the beginning of Jagger.
