Hi,

I'm running a multilingual website. The site has been optimized to perform well in italian and it does well, because it has many backlinks and good HTML code.

Unfortuanelty I have strong competition and I do not think that I will be able to beat it anymore. They simply have more users and I have missed to reach the critical mass.

However, I know that I can become the number 1 in france, if I would optimized my site for that countries language. So I would have to switch from italian to french.

Since I use cloaking I can change the complete site structure from one day to another and optimize my site for the new language.

However, I will lose all my current results and I'm doing extremly well. I get about 24 000 visits through google every month.

My Question is: How does Google handle sudden site changes? I mean what I`m doing compares to a relanch (so in another language) but I'm afraid that I will run in some kind of filter or end up in the sandbox?!

Why trash one site to start another? I would launch a new site in French. Build it and let it grow. 2-3 years down the road both may perform well and you won't be dependent on one site.
I would even select a host on French soil for the new site.
