supplemental results question

I've always thought that when I search, the pages that appear as a "sublisting" in the searches were supplemental pages.

Eg, when I search on "wordpress pages in the loop" the first result has a supplemental result, if I'm correct.

searchresult1
-supresult2
searchresult3
searchresult4
etc

But I always thought supplemental results were caused because of duplicate content? Obviously, in my search, there are 2 different urls with different content. So I'm probably misinformed somewhere. Can somebody enlighten me a bit?

A lot of people are confused by this. When you see a site listed then another page on the site is listed just below and indented that is not a supplimental result in terms of Google.

Supplimental results are usually way down in the search engine results and look like this on the bottom line

www.whatever.com/ - 3k - Supplemental Result - Cached - Similar pages

That's interesting. Thanks for pointing that out.

I have a site that supplemental, I think it came about due to teh fact in a rather sloppy manner I used teh exact same Meta tags etc on all the pages.

I have since edited them - will this bring me out?
