Less is More with Google?

Small pages with one paragraph of content rank high

I consistently rank in the Google top 10 with my product pages. Each page has a small product intro, including a detailed description (several paragraphs) about the product and how to use it.

Recently however, I've noticed that some sites are ranking above mine with just a product picture and one simple product description. In addition, I've noticed that content pages with one descriptive paragraph and then links to related content pages seem to rank high in the serps.

I don't think they have any more inbound links than I have.

With Google does Less = More?

So they have quality inbound link(s). You can forget about on page content.

Agree with seopti- it may be that those particular pages may have >direct< inbound links. Could also have something to do with site structure.

Probably related to keyword density--the less text the more density. Try removing most of non-keyword rich text on a few pages (put that info on a new page) and see what happens--but wait a few weeks for result. I have noticed when I tweak the KW density there is a gradual improvement over several weeks.
