Google GETTING //path/path in logs

Noticing a lot of GET's in logs with GET //

I've noticed a lot of GET directives in my logs from Googlebot/2.1 with double forward slashes, Like GET //page.htm instead of GET /page.htm.
Mostly from the bot using HTTP 1.1 and fetching GZIP compressed content.

Anyone else seeing this oddity?

Can you associate it with another robot?

November 22nd had a big burst of GET //'s. Even the home page on a few other days is "GET //".

There is at least one other BOT fetching with "GET //" If Googlebot were tied to Adsense, they could be seeing these buggy "GETS" from this other robot through the Adsense javascript. (I use Adsense on my sites).

I'll have to track down this other bot and see if there are buggy links somewhere.

Hah, maybe Google's trying to get// to the //root of the problem!
