I was doing a search this morning for some different product categories and I noticed some new formats being shown in the Google Results. I did a search for acne and this is what I found:

Proactiv Solution - The Answer for Acne!
Proactiv Solution is a 3-Step acne management system - combining prescription-grade
ingredients that work together to heal and prevent acne.
www.proactiv.com/ - 36k - Cached - Similar pages

This is the new part though:
---------------------------------------------
Order Proactiv and Receive 2 Free Gifts
How does Proactiv work? - 3 Steps to Clear Skin
More results from www.proactiv.com »
----------------------------------------------

It shows up under the results and it links to different pages on their site. Is this something new? Does it have anything to do with googles new sitemaps: [google.com...]

This behaviour of the SERPs is not new, people have reported it already several months ago. Google determines the most relevant pages on the same site and displays them as sublinks under the main SERP entry.

As far as I have seen, this only happens to #1 listings. It has nothing to do with Google sitemaps, because I have seen this behaviour on sites that do not have a Google sitemap at all. For the sites I know with this behaviour, Google scans the links on the main page, and uses the anchor text of these links to generate the link texts for the subpages.
