dont know if anyone can shed any light on this for me but ill ask anyway.

i have a page on my site "widget equipment" this is the main keyword for that page.

it is in the title, meta keywords, meta description, in an H1 tag and in links.

when i search for it in G this page is not displayed, my home page is.

yes there is a reference to this page on the home page because people need a link to get there.

even wierder is when i put the whole title for "widget equipment" in G. my home page still comes up but with the Widget Equipment page second.

is this G being strange or am i doing it all wrong.

Why complain if a page of your own site, rather than someone elses site, comes up?

I wouldn't worry about it at this stage. Results are still changing. Update not finished.

I think there has been a slight shift toward a home page or index page that links to a page showing up in the serps above the actual page about the subject. It's not all the time by any means but probably refelects a slight difference in the Google algo.

Yahoo is even worse in terms of showing a homepage. Sometimes on of the key words in a key phrase isn't anywhere on the homepage or index page they put hi in the serps. The topic is on the site but never mentioned on the homepage.

A while back it seemed like MSN was always showing the home or index page for a search instead of the actual topic page. Now they point to the actual page.

So it all varies and will be different a couple of months from now.

In many instances it seems page casting the vote is more important than the page... however this is not consistent.

I am hoping this is because G are trying to determine the root page for sites - and this is a side effect.

Cant believe what a mess the index is in at the moment though.

I am sure GG, MC and Google would want us to think otherwise.

What a mess :( - I am very much hoping for some changes this weekend - with it being Thanksgiving in the US (I think)
