Can you expect good rankings without a DMOZ listing?
Common opinion is dmoz is very important for Google. Unfotunatelly dmoz is full of abuse and some sites are listed dozens of times others none. Editors can use a criteria or other in order to justify inclusions or deny.

So I wonder if Google still considers dmoz inclusion "a must" or still assign high importance to that fact.

It's just another link really. The main benefit is for folks with new sites (read: PR 0), it's one of the few FREE ways of getting someone to link to you, if the editors ever get around to it that is. I agree, DMOZ is almost totally obsolete.

"Just another linke really". I highly doubt that. I'd be willing to wager that DMOZ.org is one of the seeds of Trustrank.

I have a few sites that rank at the top of the results in Google, or within the top 5, without having a presence in Dmoz - those sites are still awaiting editor review etc. I wouldn't attach too much importance to Dmoz.
