Google Analytics adds gclid= to the query string?

In the last few days I started seeing in my web log that the string gclid= is added to visitors coming from AdWords. Example: gclid=COasyKCXyYECFRlvMAodRFXJhQ

I think this is due to Google Analytics, because the Analytics script is checking for this parm in the query string... does anyone know what is this gclid= string for?

Are you seeing gclid= (example gclid=CJ29ocuN3YECFSeBGgodjnX7iw) appended to your adwords URLs? I think this is related to Google Analytics....
