Before making a large informative content addition to our site and after a lot of research, I've decided to go with a sub-domain vs. subdirectory. I've created the example.com/information and was waiting for it to be indexed. The "information" keyword was the one I was trying to position well for. For that term, the actual example.com is on Page 11.
Everything was going well. First time I noticed it in Google listings in August, on Page 28. Since then, it gradually moved up page by page. A few weeks ago it reached the same page positioning as example.com, the next day was displayed as a sub-result of example.com, then it took a lead and over the next few weeks proceeded to Page 8. I was so excided watching it crawl up! All of a sudden, two days ago it dropped to Page 49... I am very careful and do not employ any questionable tactics. I'm not sure if my plunge is permanent or is there hope? Anyone had anything similar happen to them?
Thanks so much.
