Does Page Rankings get divided?

I am worried if I have thrown away my pagerank.

Hi,
I have a website with pagerank 3,

I have several out bound links on my homepage, so I am worried that those out going links have taken some of my rankings. becuase my clients website which I have displayed on the homepage has a link to that site, and that site has now got pagerank 2 which not even has any links to other sites.

Is my worry justified?

Regards,

Pagerank can be divided, but you shouldn't worry about your page rank, it doesn't actually mean anything.

Just make sure your not linking to any gambling, adult etc. websites and everything should be fine :D

When you link to another site you nominate a PR figure for that page, but your own PR does not drop.

If that were the case then dmoz.org with 6 million outgoing links would be PR0 on every page, no?

Yes, they got Page Rank from you. You could have given that PR to other pages within your own site. But why are you worried about losing PR?

Isn't PR the smallest of your problems and less demanding of attention than huge problems you haven't so far attended to e.g. the redirection between the www and non-www [google.com] versions of your site?
