This is a subject overdue for it's own thread.

There are highly mixed opinions about acquiring expired domain names, how to find them, how to analyze them, how to pursue getting them and what to do with them if you were able to get one with potential.

It seems an attractive experiment for our relatively young company of five years to try something new since it takes so long nowadays to get a new site indexed and doing anything significant in search engines.

Anyone with valuable experience or insight on this subject is invited to add their part.

1) Has anyone had any real success with a previously expired domain name? - Beyond probable success of a new site in comparison.

2) Have you attempted to pick up an expired domain by following the recommended procedure(s) and still didn't get the domain?

3) Are the old links in Google actually useless for the newly registered domain?

I will share my eye-opening trials and experiences pending interested responses.
