I was exchanging links with a site that wasn't banned when we began exchanging, but is grey-barred now, and as such my links page is now grey-barred. I removed the link. Will the page recover the next time Google crawls, or do I have to submit a request to Google, or something else?

Have you went down in the SERPs or have you just lost your PageRank?

Well, the same to me (I also exchanged links in the past with a site, that is now banned) BUT! everything stays the same for me. PR is 2 on the links pages. With Jagger got even more traffic. And that site gone from pr7 to pr0 and I used a special tool to find out whether it is banned or not. It showed that it is banned.
So, in my opinion linking to a banned site can or can not influence you... My advice to the author of the tread to look deeper into the problem.. May be this is not the banned site that influenced you.
