Let's face it. The original backrub concept has been perverted because links to sites no longer can be considered votes for a site without adding hundreds (if not thousands) of additional parameters to quantify the value of the vote. Each additional parameter brings with it an additional set of babies thrown out with the bathwater.
The Google algorithm now seems like a system of patchwork created to prevent spam rather than retrieve information. Can anyone find an analogy with a particular OS?
So here in the third millenium what could be considered a vote for quality content?
Obviously, (didn't you read the title?) it's the amount that content has been copied and reproduced by different sources. The next powerhouse wil be the first to be able to legally differentiate between original and copied content. What would this new incarnation of Backrub be called? Copy-cat
