PR down, Listings Up?

My PR Dropped, but listing rankings up?

This update has been a weird one for me. My PR 6 site has dropped to a 5, and yet my keyword rankings have shot up in almost all areas. How on earth does this work? While I'm glad they went up and I'm getting more traffic, this does make it harder for some link exchanges with higher PR ranked sites. Or has Google PR lost it's bite?

Google continues to slowly devalue PR while increasing other metrics.

I've got a couple of sites in the opposite situation -- PR gain of one or two places, but traffic (from Google) down 75% or so... On the whole, I'd trade :-)

One of my personal (meaning not for a client) sites has a PR0 (which is odd, because it used to pull at least a 4) but as of Bourbon it's #1 for every single keyword or phrase I ever targeted it for. I've never paid much attention to PR, and now I'm going to pay even less.

gdguide: This reminds me of a people who ask, my competitor site has PR0 and is 1 of 3,000,000 results.

This is invisible PR.

I'm not complaining, but I really am wondering how effective PR really is in terms of value.

I had a crappy site with broken links that I forgot about , and let sit for 4 months. The links were put as placeholders to see how the layout would look from day 1. It was one page of links, 1/3 of them broken.

When I checked on this forgotten site months later, it was a PR5. The same as my current site that has 300 pages of content, downloads, you name it.

I really think this PR is a load of you know what. It maybe is good for some sites, but measures nothing for others.

Same for me. On a central index page the PR dropped down one but it's ranking the best ever on a major key word search.

I guess I don't understand what PR is good for now. It's been mentioned here that it helps in getting spidered more frequently. I also thought it helped give more value to deep pages linked from the page with good PR.

Does this seem to still be true?
