I am not saying that this is what I have been doing at all, its not really ethical, but I am sure that someone out there must have tried doing this.

So everyone here knows what they shouldn't do towards optimising your own site in google, so why not give your competitors a helping hand and imply some of these things that you know will help to bring your competitors site down the rankings – imagine just what a bit of linking site wide from a site that have a few 100,000 pages with the same keyword, it would surely have a detrimental effect on that keyword for your competitor. If this was employed across a few sites you could possibly even get this site banned!

I don’t really want to discuss the ethical issues around this but I am sure people will and I must say that this is something that I would not do, but recently the idea of this has crossed my mind. I understand this is very very underhand and could really back fire on you, but has anyone actually tried doing something like this?
