As I don't have the https anymore I can't do a [mysite.com...] and exclude Google that way.
Google's URL removal [services.google.com] tool comes up with a message saying that it can't do a https URL. And even if it did... when I try the previously valid URL of [mysite.com...] in a server header checked I don't get the 404 (that Google requires), instead it seems to show up as [mysite.com...] If I paste that into a browser it strangely redirects to microsoft.com.
1. How can I remove this https file?
2. Why the microsoft.com?
Perhaps email them and tell them to remove it. However Google seem intent on being the www's cache, even if that goes against webmasters wishes.
Lesson: Use the noarchive tag for Google on all of your pages. I used that tag for the past few months and it's sorted out few problems.
I'll try emailing them. I didn't do it because I thought they'd just ignore the email... but I'll give it a shot.

If it's good enough for Brett it's good enough for me. I tried implementing it on one of my sites and then really, really missed the handy feature in SERPs (of clicking one link and seeing when the page was last crawled). Maybe I should give it another shot.

Then fix the server. If the server isn't returning a 404 - then thats the problem. What server are your running?
When you say you get Microsoft - do you mean MSN? Are you running IE as your browser? Then tools > internet options > advanced > turn off search from the toolbar
