How long does it take for Google penalties to subside

9 months ago:

I asked Google to take a look at my site since it had been dropping off the SERPs. They came back and said I had problems with link farms and affiliates - stamped me with a penalty. I am showing up 40+ for my company name, this is my best ranking in Google.

5 mos ago:

Launched a completly new retail site. Same domain name, but entirely new site structure, content, pages - the works. Still dont know what I did wrong before, but now am definately staying away from affiliate shops and link exchanges, just in case.

Reviewed my site. Double checked for anything that could be taken the wrong way by Google, knowing that the 9 month mark would soon come - thats if 9 mos means anything, its just a number Ive heard around..

Today:

Its been 9 months. I have a really great site. Great Products, great services, good content. I rank anywhere from 3rd to 20th in Yahoo for huge terms in the industry. I also rank well in MSN with similar positions 5th-35th.

Will Google finally call of the dogs?

My banned site got reincluded after 9 months. After 3 months back we have no rankings to speak of. Even our company name does not rank as it should. Our site is 100% clean now and full of unique professionally written content. In my opinion our site is far superior to what it was before. Prior to being banned we had many good rankings but now we have none even after 3 months back in the index. I am hoping that we have been sandboxed rather than still being penalized. It would be interesting to hear other experiences from webmasters who have had a site reincluded.
