For what it's worth, it's up again here [UK]. Think they're toying with us? ;) I was (and still am) too suspicious of it to use it.

Seems very active to me, everyday my server almost block IP of GA due excessive usage. (The block owned by Google, but hostname dont resolve as crawler*.googlebot.com, so automatically can be blocked if download many pages).

I had problems with google's 'web accelorator' last month, it was caching pages that weren't supposed to be indexed, triggering error conditions, these pages were blocked in robots.txt but google was caching the blocked pages anyway. This is something they need to work on, even though their proxy is not their search engine, they are still caching blocked pages and not obeying robots.txt, not good. This just adds to the steadily lengthening list of things I have to do to cover various google oddities with every web site I do. In other words, I'm organizing my information for google, not the other way around, this is starting to get old. Hopefully they'll drop that slogan soon.
