Brand new little site in the SERPS after a week

I've just seen SERPS from a brand new site after only one week (yes, 7-8 days...)

I friend of mine got a dot-com domain back in july. A week ago we published 20 pages and placed a single link to the new domain. Since then, Googlebot have visited all the pages, and 4 pages are in the SERPS today.

Is this quite normal Google-behavior? Or is there treads I should have seen...
