Hi ,
Everybody knows that backword links act as a support for a particular site. and also play an important role in the page rank(numerical value that shows the importance and relevance of that page on the web)of a page(it may be the home page of a site). But
can backlinks , may be helpful to get a good traffic on a site? If Yes then How?
Pls explain in detail...

If there are links to you on good, "real" sites (as opposed to link farms) that get actual visitors, some of these visitors may well pay you a visit!

On one of my sites, I used to get more visitors from a referring site than from search engines. --Now, most of the visitors simply use their bookmarks... ;-)

As incredible as this may sound, there are many people that don't use the search engines, some don't even know they exist! All they do is follow links from site to site to site, especially hobby sites.

If I search for a new subject, I love finding a sites with good collections of links. I bookmark these sites and use them to get quickly to content I need, without searching next time again. This is the reason I understand Google to value on-topic outbound links.

But it means that inbound links are major source of traffic. If you have a site about widgets, the biggest number of visitors interested in your content are visitors of other big sites about widgets. Nothing can bring you so much traffic as inbound link on big site in your specialty!

As for inbound links from of-topic sites - it's a matter of marketing expertise, which other branches can lead customers to your industry, and which cannot.
