Question about index inclusion?

Conflicting results with parenthesis - what causes this?

We just launched a new site. The domain name has been in the index for a while, and we kept it active by doing a 302 redirect to one of our other sites (until we got the new on ready to launch).

When I do a search on Google for www. widgets . com it gives me a "Sorry, no information is available for the URL" message. But when I click on "Find web pages from the site www. widgets . com" the home page shows as being indexed. If you search for "www. widgets . com", the home page shows as well. So ..... Why does it tell me ""Sorry, no information is available for the URL" when I know the home page is in the index? Why does the home page show up as indexed when you use parenthesis, and doesn't show up when I don't use the parentheses? The site is cached with an Aug 27 date.

By the way, the Google toolbar shows a PR6 for the home page, but the index page is the only page of the site that has a PR.
