Might your server have been down when Googlebot came, or returned incorrect errors? If your site is really clean, this would be the first thing I'd look at.

I believe the second action solved my problem!
There are some very 'iffy' people about, prepared to take from others rather than make for themselves.

Our adwords are still running and we are going to up our bids to ensure we are visible.
Only things I can think we have done differently: We added a couple of new pages to the site. We do request link exchanges between our site/our directory/their sites.
My webmaster checked the robot txt and it is all correct and fine. However, our server was down a couple of times lately. He seems to think it is a technical glitch by Google and we will show back up within a month or two.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Have you submitted a sitemap to Google?

It might help.

and see if you show up under any of them. Also, if you have the Google toolbar go to your main page and check the Google cached version. If you show up in any of these then I suggest you simply wait a few days before panicking.
Mine has been like that for a few months - when do we draw the line and say this is the new Google?
I have a feeling that it is very much connected to the supplemental index and the big big crawl that happened in Nov 04 - hmmmmmm
