Does Page Rank help?

Forgive the naivete of this question but I am a 'budding' web designer, or trying to be. Can anyone tell me why my site refuses to appear on, for example, the first 10 pages when searched for using 'web design ivybridge devon'? The index page has a Google PageRank of 2, but it is way down the search results list. Any advice will be gratefully received!

It's against the terms of service to make specific references to your website, but perhaps as it's so far down the SERPS, the mods won't wreak revenge.

A page rank of 2 really isn't very high - you need more links to your home page (in particular).
You also need to make sure that the words you're searching for are in the
a) <title>
b) <h1>
c) <meta description>
preferably once and once only.
And they should also be in the standard body of the page.

And with a page rank of two, you need to have a fair amount of patience after making these changes before Google comes to see them.

I think you should make the changes and wait about 6 weeks - only pages with much higher Page Rank get daily visits.

I've got plenty PR3 pages crawled daily, and of course higher are crawled at least with this frequency. I agree PR2 are usually crawled once per several weeks, but sometimes it may be a bit more often.
