Serps dropped 10 spots

Ok, so here is my issue. On my major, major, most major keyword, my sited dropped from Position 2 - 3 to 11 - 12 about 3 weeks ago. On sub-major terms, I lost about 3 - 6 spots on each term.

Why I think I was bad:

- Stopped aggregating backlinks
- Keyword Density was pretty high
- Content stayed the same for a long time

Why that shouldn't matter:

- All other sites for the keywords stayed in their exact same place (up a spot if behind me).
- All other sites look EXACTLY the same as they did 3 months ago (no major link development or content changes).

I have some ideas on why my site was targeted over others, but I'd like to hear some feedback from the board pro's (or any other qualified entity) on what they would do to get back to top ranking. Or at the very least, what they would "test" to see why they got dropped.

Any thoughts...?
