Doorway/Adsense fodder/Duplicate/Pseudo directory content
.. which is why the directory sites, real and pseudo, are being hammered now, I believe. It was my fault. I was blinded by greed, stupidity, and mania. I thought what I'd done was OK. It wasn't.
Remedy:
- I've purged all the duff content, I hope.
- I've written to Google Support and Adsense, and got a personal reply, saying my request had been forwarded to their engineers.
In the meantime ...
Questions:
1. If I
... point a New-domain.com to the Old-domain.com content,
... And New-domain.com redirects to Old-domain.com for everyone _except the GoogleBot_,
... Use a robots.txt file to bar the Googlebot from Old-domain.com, in case it comes back unannounced.
... _Both domains pointing to the exact same content_
i.e. Google re-indexes my old (purged) content under Newdomain.com _only_ ...
Would Google penalise me for this? It would only have one copy of the content, at 0 PR. Anyone coming to the site by any means would get the same content.
Reason for doing this: I want visitors, who are searching specifically for 'Old-Domain doodad' using Google, to be able to find me. At the moment, all they'll get is a ragbag of sites that mention me. I offer unusual, personalised stuff.
2.
Can doing a 301 redirect, on specific files and directories, from a banned domain to a new domain:
a. Penalise the redirected-to domain?
b. Have no effect on same;
c. Have a positive effect on the new domain, if the banned domain still has lots of (legit) links to it?
Reason for asking: My banned site is a mixum-gatherum of 7 years' work. It's very diverse. Sections of it are to become entire sites in themselves (should have done it years ago, [sigh]).
I want to redirect visitors looking for the old content, to the new sites. I don't want to 'taint' the new sites.
[Note to mod: I know I asked this in another thread, but it I couldn't find it again]
3. Would a site which Google hand unbanned, being linked to from many others, gain a positive PR rating on the GoogleBar, _even if its robots.txt file barred the GoogleBot access_?
Reason for asking: It would be a good automatic indicator that Google had forgiven me, and I could get rid of the technical jiggery-pokery above.
4. How long should I reasonably expect to wait to see if Google has forgiven me, before contacting them again? I don't want to harass them.
I'm still changing my site, making it more homogenous, so it would pass the Yahoo test (visual inspection) as well as the Google test.
I've read various times here, from a week, to 30, to 60 days, to 'forget it, buddy'.
