Does Site Rank Change Only During Major Update

Or is it continuous?

Hi all

Does site rank change only during major update or is it continues

i have a site which has been online for a long time, but i didn’t promote the site for years.

I wanted improve the site rank on google so for the last few months i have got some incoming links and also made lot of search engine optimization, but there is no difference in the traffic....

Do i need to wait for a major google update or does google update their se continually?

David, Google tweaks its algo and introduces some filters once in a while during the major updates, and in between does a rolling update also called as Everflux. During this rolling update, Google updates the changes you made to the website and the backlinks/PR.

In all probability, Google would have updated the changes you made to your site by now and if you haven't seen any changes, more likely you will have to wait until the next major update and continue to add relevant links/content and stop doing "lot of search engine optimization".

Base on my observation, they perform a major database and sometimes, algo update, during near 15th or 30th of every month. So if my theory is correct, there`ll be an update around 3 days from now.
