Could members that are more knowledgeable about Google than myself please post their suggestion as to why a PR would suddenly drop to 0?
Thanks.

Drop from where to 0?

Do you have pr0 or a Grey bar?

It is most probable that you have tripped a filter somewhere along the line. I would take a look at any SEO you may have done over the last couple of months to see if there is something that Google would not like.

It is also good to remember that pr is just a tiny piece of the ranking riddle.

it dropped from 4 to 0, the server hosting my site has been VERY unreliable lately and more than likely was down the last time the bots came, how do i find out if i have tripped any filters or if i am being penalised?
and how long does a penalty last?

i appologise for knowing very little :(

You also need to check other sites to see if the toolbar feed is down.

Is google still sending you traffic?

in april one of my sites was hit by a month long, sporadic DDoS attack causing the site to be off-line for about 30% of that month. Subsequently my PR went from 5 to 0 for the index page and has stayed there. My ranking went from 6 for my main keyword to 25 after Bourbon...

Weirdly, my inner pages are all PR 4 still.

My site's PR dropped from 3 to 0 after a web site re-design and better SEO optimization. No page has a PR, except for 2 or three useless pages that somehow got a PR of 2 or 3. Ironically, we are now ranked in the top 5 SERPS for Google for almost every page on our site, and for some pages we rank #1, above sites with a PR of 5. Now tell me this, is PR dead?

Not Dead.

Just irrelevant.

Hi drewzki1,

if the site is the one that your email addy belows to then you have some problems thats for sure.

it appears that there is a 302 redirect from www.yoursite.com/index.php to an other page this might explain some of your earlier posts about loosing the home page. Why the redirect? I wouldn't use the 302 response on any redirected pages within my site.
If the site isn't this one i apologise...

Just trying to help:)

Vimes.

Google is updating it's PR and takes about 3-4 days to finish. Things fluctuate during this time. check again in a few days.

Just wait few days more. Let the PR updation gets settle down first. Then only do all the analysis on your site. It will be easier for you to understand and find the reason behind its downfall. Lots of speculations will come up. Also check out whether ranking is still ok or not? that is what matters the most.

Try here - there is lots of buzz and speculation as to why people have dropped!

I have the same problem but on a much larger scale. The PR on 24 of my websites went from 6 to 0 with no discernable decrease in traffic. The common factors were

1. They are hosted on the same server
2. They went from PR5 to PR6 in the last update
3. Their design are similar and uses mainly free content.
4. I do sell text links on these sites, mainly through a single broker through an automated system

However, there are other sites hosted on the same server that were either unaffected or dropped a notch a PR. Their design was similar as well.

I am still working on technical reasons at this stage, but am becoming concerned that there may a a server-wide penalty. Another possibiity is that the text link broker is being penalized.

Looks like you got a penalty to me. Do you sell links or spam in anyway?

The extremely odd thing about this is that 2 months ago, these 24 sites were getting no traffic from Google despite the high PR. Now they are getting traffic even though the PR has dropped down to 0. I have got another 30 sites on the same server that were not affected.

I am working on technical factors at this stage and will move some of these sites to another server and see what happens.

derekwong28,
any interlinking between them?

any interlinking between them?

Where did this theory begin?
I've heard a lot of "interlinking is bad", but I have 200 sites interlinked and all have PR 2-4 and rank for some keywords.
Where exactly begins the problem about interlinking?

>> Where exactly begins the problem about interlinking?

hard to tell without seeing the sites, but it's not hard to tell (in most cases) if they're interlinked for a good reason, or to increase link pop.
