In the uk if you input google.com it redirects straight to google.co.uk I'm sure this is country dependant.

I got a site in the top five positions of a one word finanacial term.

According to word-tracker and overture search suggestion tool the searches for this word are huge. I'm talking millions.

Yet we receive minimal traffic!

I'm thinking this is because we only rank on google.co.uk (on .com we rank mid thirties).

How many people use the toolbar? I'm in the UK and if I do it defaults to the US engine.

i.e. If you're in the UK and you visit www.google.com/?q=widgits then it wont redirect you to www.google.co.uk/?q=widgets

I never trust overture and word tracker to be a 100% accurate tool but I do beleive it's proportional. A big number is big traffic, a small number is small traffic...

Is anyone else noticing the same symptoms? How can I be top of a supposed million searches term in the financial sector and receive a dribble of traffic?

You can try to get top 3 position as after 3rd position there are less chances to visit the site by users...
