Quick question...say I have an incoming link from another site...and it is listed as www.blah blah blah.com. Now, my actual homepage is www.blah blah blah.com.index.htm Does Pagerank different due to the addition of "index.htm"? All my internal links are for "index.htm". Or doesn't it matter?

sorry...i meant to say www.blah blah blah/index.htm (forgot the backslash in the first post). Do my incoming links need to explicitly point to the index.htm page?

it doesn't matter... the structure of the URL is not a big thing...

the pr on the domain (i.e without the page name) is the exact same as index.htm or index.html - google clash these 3 as the same. One thing to note is the pr for the domain is often differnt if the www. is ommitted. Also note that if you point a homepage other that what I mentioned above, then the PR may well be differnt - for example if you rename you homepahe to index.php or index.asp - it will be classes as a new page and the PR will start off at zero!

"if you rename you homepahe to index.php or index.asp - it will be classes as a new page and the PR will start off at zero!"

Does this also aply to index.shtml?

Will the safest thing not be to try to get all your incommimg links, to point to the domain without the index-file specified? In this way your incommimg links will still work, and if you change to index.php, your PR will be restored by next google update.
