I am trying to increase my google ranking. I am trying by exchanging links with various sites. Does the rankings increase due to how many links there are on the web to my website? Or do I have to do something else so that these links work? Cause I am not seeing any change what so ever.

Thanks

Tony

Links are one of over 100 factors that Google uses to rank search results. Yes you need, them. But you need a lot more - so have a look around the forums and pick up some ideas.

Anchor text (even within your own site) is important. Quality of the site linking can be important. And although this may seem very basic, I should mention title tags - unique and on topic for every page of your website. At the site clinics we held at the New Orleans Conference, bad title tags seemed surprisingly common in the sites that people submitted for the panels to review.
