old page popped up?

Hi

I recently joined Google Alerts for a particular search phrase we compete for.

The other day I received a Google Alert that contained a page of ours that went live more the three years ago.

Around one and a half years ago the whole site seemed to receive a penalty (possibly for duplicate content - my fault) and the traffic from Google all but disappeared.

Does anyone think that the appearance in the Google Alert might signafy a return to Google of that web site?
