Google and moving my site to a different hosting.

Is it safe?

Hi all,

I have a very old site with very nice PR and nice ranking.

I consider moving it to a different hosting service, would that be wise as far as SEO is concerned?

As far as I know, what's really crucial is to keep the site with the same domain-name registrar.

I'd love you hear your thoughts about it!
Thanks,
Assaf.

Hi,

From experience I would say yes. But perhaps check the new IP range you'll get against spam lists... as this may cause some problems.

I have personally moved a highly ranking site from host to host and even from registrars with no effect. However this was just over 1 year ago.

Moved a domain in 2002, and moved the same again in 2004. No ill effects were attributable to either move.

I'm thinking about changing hosts too, so I can get a dedicated IP with a VPS, so I can have more control. Acutally for me its probably the best time to do it now because I do not rank well in Google anyway. My only concern would be if I was to lose my rankings in Yahoo and MSN. I definitely do not want to lose any more rankings than I already have!

I've moved several domains over the years never had a problem whatsoever.
