my apologies if I have posted in the wrong forum or if this question has been answered before.
I have had a bit of a look around for information regarding the different Google SERPs. The thinking seems to be:
- different data centres: you can query Google and be directed to a different data centre to answer the query, hence results differ.
- different browser: different browsers may return different results.
However my problem seems not be be related to either of these issues. I have a VB program that looks at SERPs (not automatically, mind you :-) and uses the MS IE component. On the same machine I have MS IE proper. I used to think that the IE dll and IE were in fact one and the same. But I get different SERPs for both instances of IE on the same computer. In the VB app I am #152, in IE proper I am #3.
Has anyone else noticed such strange differences in Google SERPs? Doesn't this just about knock the SEO industry for six? How can I report to management that "You may be ranking well for a particular keyword - I just cannot be sure"?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Cheers
