I own a garage door site and we have done considerable link building over the last several years and have been solid for 6 months now on page one of google, yahoo, and msn in the top 1,2, or 3 spots for our keywords. Now it seems from this update we went to page number (2) and were replaced by ehow.com and a few other junk sites with very little relevance to our content. Our competitor is rightfully still in the number one spot with 6,000 pages whereas we have 1,000 pages total to our site and were quite content to be number in the number two position. If google is really like a library indexing catalog and our PR is 6 and our links are stong and we havent changed anything that would trip filters since we did nothing new for the last several months or so, then why would our site be the ONLY one to change positions? Really its absurd to be the only site on page one to drop to page two, all others remained virtually the same and didn't add or remove anything either that we can visably see, they are pretty static and have low amounts of content. All of this to say we are smart at what we do and this time we are stumped as to even a guess this time as to what google has done to us and why... Usually we can infer what is going on and realize gogoel just does what it does sometimes, but dangit we were finally page one and worked our butts off to play by the rules and get there over 2 years time.
