I know the answer is "do both", but all things being equal, do you think blog sites or html sites are more effective at gaining page rank and page 1 placement?

I think you mean, traditional website or blog.

If it is a hobby or personal interest, a blog may be more fitting. If it is cinsumer led, I'd go for a pro looking commercial site.

So you think consumers click thru html sites more than they click thru blog sites?

At one time I would have advocated regular sites, but since this latest update, my blogs are the only sites I have that haven't seen traffic decreases. I wonder if Google has a special place in their hearts for 'em. (Or maybe they're slated for traffic slashes in the next update.)

In general though, I find my blogs easier to update (therefore I update them more than my regular sites), though I suppose a good content management system would nullify that.

Maybe just a matter of preference for you.

They are all HTML.

I think it is more likely for consumers to interact with traditional websites as opposed to long-winded blog sites discussing hobbies or personal interest.
