Best Strategy for moving entire Web Site

To recover rank in Google in the least amount of time

I have a 7 year old commercial site that ranks well and draws over 100,000 uniques each month, but am losing the domain. I plan on moving the entire site with no major changes to a new domain. I may or may not have access to the old domain to redirect folks to the new domain.

Has anyone gone through this before and can offer any advice on recovering my rankings in Google in the least amount of time. Most of my traffic comes from Google. I know I'll have to resubmit the site, but is there any way to speed up the process since these are identical pages, but under a different domain.

When the process is complete and I turn over the domain, I plan of requesting it's removal from Google and any others that permit it. I quess I'll find out if there really is a sand box.

I could have posted this under Domains, but I'm most concerned with how to regain my ranking in Google after the change.
