So, just out of curiosity, if you've started new sites since this sandbox effect began, how long did it take your site(s) to get out or are you still waiting?
For me it normally takes about 4 weeks (sometimes even less). Most important thing is having a couple of inbound links from high PR pages.
Post a link on a PR5 site - 5 days later we are seeing deep crawling and repeat visits every 7 days.
Are you guys not talking about getting indexed rather coming out of the sandbox?
I've had several folks around here look at my website and I've made some changes based on their recommendations. This morning I ranked #231 for my own name - something that Yahoo and MSN rank me #1 for.
I've emailed Google asking if the site was under a penalty - I was told no. The site is all white hat following Brett's 26 steps. The site does well in Yahoo for the keywords I target.
From time to time, I sign some of the articles I write with my own name (first name last name)- which is uncommon. MSN shows me at #3 and #4, Yahoo #1 and #2. There is absolutely no reason for me not to rank well on my name, yet Google shows my site at #114.
To answer you question, this site was launched in early May, first spidered by Google in May 2004 - 12 months in the sandbox.

Nope. Getting a few pages into the index is a matter of a day or two. What usally follows are those in's and out's, missing descriptions, etc. (that's what the sandbox is about). To put an end to the game you must have some good inbound links. G then will spider the entire site and keep it in its main index.
Totally wrong.

The sandbox isn't about not getting indexed. It's about getting any sort of good ranking. It's when your site is #1 in Yahoo!, MSN and others yet #250 in Gooooogle...

Site launched in February 2004. It was a move from an old URL to a new URL so the content was identical when it launched (of course I changed it since then). It came up ranking very close to the old site for a couple of weeks and then went into the "sand box." Over the year I was able to achieve high rankings on related terms but not the primary terms. I was able to get the primary terms into the top 100 but not the top 10. After just about a year, rankings were finally "normal" (top ten for primary terms).
I have another site launched in September 2004. Again, some terms rank but not as high as I think they should. I believe that the site will be out of the sandbox this fall. Time will tell.
some of its pages have jumped 200+ positions on one DC
Thats great news I hope its a sign of things to come for your site :)
My main site (spend most my time on) first crawled in Dec. Average position for main target KW, page 280-300. This went on for 4 months.
To date, absolutely no-where vanished entirely out of the search results,(not the Index)
Some Inner pages are ranking well for not so searched for terms.
I've avoided the sandbox on a couple of domains i've taken over where sites were 2 years+ old and had a few links and a few on-topic pages in the index. (one pr1 one pr2). With these i've tip-toed around adding a link here or there over a few months and both are doing well in their "widgets in location" areas.

If I was to start another domain (now that my primary domain is out of the sandbox) would I still have to wait almost a year to get my next domain out? Or will Google trust my name since I already have a domain out of the sandbox?
People used to talk about 6 months, then 9 months, now 12...
I would imagine the "no rule" still applies.
Site A and B crawled the same time.
Both designed similar to target same KWS.
Both same relevant IBL's.
Site A: released 6 months
Sites B: released 12 months
No one knows why A comes out sooner.
ps. Just kidding about there never being a sandbox.
If Google has a problem counting the difference, they better go back to school.
973 Back links and growing and Google keeps us still playing in the sandbox!
Our competitor has 73 and he is on the top
Hi RS_200_gto,
I am sure you know the potential difference in terms of backlinks quality there may exist. Are you sure you suffer because of sandbox or maybe have other reasons to worry?
