Dynamic Site Loses Most Pages

I manage a client site that up until a couple of months ago did quite well in terms of being indexed for part numbers my client sells - which in this case is well over 3,000.

We built the site so that the title tag is dynamically created to include the part # with each part # having its own dynamic page. This worked well for some time.

All of sudden, most of the pages have disappeared and my client is upset. 50% reduction in referrals.

Have we crossed a line of too much content? We have tried to add multiple navigation elements to get the spiders to the content - so far to no avail.

Any ideas?
