Some pages lost PageRank, maybe due to DOS attack

Could this be due to DOS attack?

All our Forums and some of our internal pages lost PageRank yesterday. Our main page is PR 7 (which is still the same) and most internal pages range from PR4 to PR6 and now some of them are PR0 since yestedray.

The only problem we have had that might have caused it is that we had Denial of Service attack that started yesterday at 4:00am, which caused our pages to load very slow or not load at all.

Could this have caused the problem. Does Google drop PR's so fast?

I have also noticed an overall drop in traffic by about 40% since last month.

Did anyone else lose PageRank on just some pages?

IMHO, no.

I have also noticed an overall drop in traffic by about 40% since last month.

When did you notice a drop in traffic?

Was it when you lost the green bar? Check your stats out.

I have seen sites get a grey bar, then get it back a few weeks later.

Google did have a glitch a few days ago, are the PR values back now?

The traffic drop was about a week prior to the PR drop. The PR's are still at zero.

Have you tried using a different machine or tried re-installing the tool bar?

Yeah I have looked from different machines and asked several others to check and they saw the same thing.

submitx, try FireFox. Also, do a search in Google$ for www.yoursitename.com. If you don't find your site there - it's a ban. Often they just ban your main page, so all other pages remain a PR, but your traffic is killed in G$.

If the main page is in G$, then you are in luck, ignore PR as long as traffic is there.

Main Page has PR7 and ranking. Only some internal pages lost PR (PR0), but still ranking, maybe a slight drop in rankings, but I wasn't really checking rankings of internal pages, so I don't know! Mostly they are FORUM pages and when I do site: command all pages are still listed and some rank well for a competetive terms like "bcentral directory"

submitx,
bcentral directory.. The second result on google is now Webmasterworld! Keep dropping keywords here and you will go down further! As far as competitive goes? Results 1 - 100 of about 496,000 ain't there in my book..... But heck that's just me... Have a great night Rich

Your problem is your rewrite mod is not working - Google is in your phpbb forum in SID mode. You might as well have put up a brick wall.

I've gone through a couple of DOS attacks a while back with no negative results. Too long ago to be affecting anything now.

But now I've lost PR across the board. What was 7 is 6, what was 4 is 3, etc. Yet my keywords are still up there in the serps. I have been wondering if this has been happening to other sites as well.

Thanks for the SID suggestion. I will look into that, but I don't think that is the problem as all pages without SID had PR before and now I have even lost PR on some internal non-forum pages that don;t use SID's!

kamikaze -

rewrite mod problems and indexing - do you have a source for more info about that? Is it generally only with forums that that is an issue?

joeduck- it's not only forums that could have SID problems, it is any site that uses SID that could have the problem. However, my problem is not indexing, all my pages are still indexed even with SID, which is a little surprising, the problem is that I have lost PR on all pages that previously had PR, even tough they are still indexed and rank the same!

joeduck:

I would depend on the type of forum. Much is written on it.

A very good full SEO mod/hack for PHPBB forums such as what submitx is using is Able2Know SEO 2.0.0

What you have lost is your site navigation. Every time the bot hits a SID, it might index that page, but then it quits and goes home.

You are not getting the flow of PR, trust me on this.

Get your site out of SID ASAP, there is no reason not to and it is hurting you.

You asked the question..., I am giving you the answer.
