How often does Google update?

Just got into DMOZ and wondering how long till I show up in the Google Directory, any one know how frequently Google is updating?

Very roughly, about once every 6 months, and you've just missed an update.

Yep, you just missed an update by about 4 weeks, you should catch the next

They have been about a monthly schedule. There should be another update within a couple weeks.

I just had a 4 year old listing in odp changed from non-www to www recently, hope it makes a small change for the better.

I saw new results for a few hours today and then it went back to the old results. What was that about?

The Google Directory updated from the Open Directory:

on October 18th 2004.
on November 14th 2004.
on or just before December 17th 2004.
on or just before January 18th 2005.
on or just before March 5th 2005.

The change I made on my ODP listing was edited on Feb 18th, and that's not showing in the Google directory yet.

The last Google update represents the state of the Open Directory in mid February.

As it takes time to collect and roll out the data at each end, the Google Directory is always behind the Open Directory. But the last one was more behind than usual. I would guess that it was meant to roll out in late February, but got delayed.

An internal problem at the ODP end saw the about-weekly RDF file not published a couple of times recently.

Since there are sites out there still using 4 and 5 year old ODP data, having a delay of an extra fortnight or so for the Google update is no biggie. In fact, when the ODP converted their data over from a myraid of character encodings previously decided on a per-category basis to be completely UTF-8 directory-wide, Google failed to update at all on a regular basis; I think they managed to make a total of only about 3 updates in the whole year.
