Our site used to be ranked well for certain terms, recently, like most here, we took a bad hit and disappeared.. I found if I add filter=0 to some of our search terms, we show up right where we used to be... I emailed google recently and they said there was no penalty on us (after 4 or 5 emails)..

So, does anyone know what filter=0 actually means?

When you add "&filter=0" to the end of the URL (after doing a google search), this *removes* the duplicate content filter.

It has the same effect as if you did a search and clicked the "repeat the search with the omitted results included" link on the last page.

So it looks like some of your pages may have been hit by the duplicate content filter.
