Subdomains and the sandbox

If you have a site that is already spidered and ranking ok, will a newly created subdomain escape the sandbox and be ranked faster?

Also, is the sandbox only on new sites or does it apply to new pages within an established site?

No problems here at all with adding new subdomains to an existant site.
