I have noticed that on some forums, certain threads appear on a google search by just typing in a couple key words that are either in the title of the thread or somewhere in the thread itself.
I have also noticed that some threads from the same forum won't appear in a google search unless you type in the exact thread title while doing a google search.
I have also noticed that while some searches will take you straight to a particular thread, other searches for particular threads will only take you to the main forum page where you wouldn't even have a clue of where to look for that particular thread which came up in a google search.
1. Why do some threads in a forum show up in google searches while others don't?
2. Why do some threads found in a google search take you straight to that thread while others only take you to the main forum page?
3. Can moderators/administrators of that particular forum control which threads appear in google searches and how they appear, (for example - where the thread title appears in the google search as opposed to the main forum page appearing as a result of a google search while looking for that particular thread)?
I have also noticed that some searches will bypass the main page and take you to the section of the forum where that thread is, but still won't take you to that particular thread.
I have also noticed that some threads show up as some kind of text instead of taking you to the forum itself.
I have done a google search typing in a particular thread title from a forum I was in a couple of weeks ago and the first result of the google search took me right to the text version of that thread. I now have done a google search this week typing in that exact same thread title like I did a couple weeks ago. Except this time the search result which has it only comes up as the forum itself.
What controls how a thread appears in a google search result?
