Hi,

I have a number of related sites linking to each other. One has a PR of 5 the other PR 4 - the PR 4 site has links on everypage to the site of PR 5. This seemed to increase my position on google.

I also used to see these pages as backlinks and all the internal links on the PR 5 site for many pages. Now when I check the backlinks via link: method they seem to have disappeared also my position on google has plumeted.

Are google updating the backlinks or have I maybe been penalised for over nepotism of links to each site.

thanks

hi rankin_gav,

these are many discussions going on at the moment regarding the latest google update.

as far as i know the link: command is useless at the moment, different DCs show different backlinks, give it a bit of time.

in the meantime check out the other threads

good luck

I see a lot of people trying to sell domains now that seem to have a penalty. I see 6000 backlinks and it is a page rank 2. Something wrong there. Looks like people that posted their links on forums etc have been slapped. This is an observation.

Anyone else have evidence of this or a network being wiped out?
