The PR in the directory has been out of sync with the toolbar for quite some time , so i am unsure that it is an indication of what is to come PR wise for us? All my sites score one point higher in the directory than i am currently credited for in the toolbar.
Also when you say updated, do you mean they have taken a fresh " dump " ( love that techie term :) from DMOZ or only the PR.
#2 Position has PR 0* when it shows 5 in the directory
#3 position has PR 6* when it shows 5 in the directory
#4 position has PR 6* when it shows 5in the directory
*According to Google Tool Bar
***NONE*** of them have external link pages or resource pages.
Most of them had most pages with Supplemental results or no title which tells me something wrong with their site.
A lot of them had the same title on several pages.
Backlinks, according to Google are:
#1 - 0 backlinks
#2 - 34 backlinks
#3 - 12 backlinks
#4 - 0 backlinks
#5 - 245 backlinks
As said earlier, #1 is owned by an ODP editor with no outside links and no links coming in either.
Something is wrong with this picture.
My view is that not so long ago there was predominance of low quality "amateurish" site, but now the situation has changed with more and more quality sites being created every day. The PR algo has probably changed to accomodate this and medium ranking sites are now being pushed down the PR rankings. The effect is cumalative as most medium ranking sites get their incoming links from other medium ranking sites, which of course are also dropping down the rankings.
It seems to me that the work I have been doing on one of my sites which *should* have resulted in a PR increase has merely helped me to hold on to what I have. During the last two Google Directory updates my site has stayed the same where all the others in the same category have fallen.
The last time there was a change in my Google Directory category it forecast what was coming in the next Google toolbar update.

I hope this is the case. My primary site has moved up 200 poistions in my category with an increase of PR. The last repositioning that took place in December didn't affect my category standings but it did lower my PR by one.
I'll just cross my fingers and hope for the best!

Same here--I'm treading water and going nowhere -- and client sites I have been actively gathering links for did the same--held their own. Those i haven't attended to have dropped in rank by 1.
>Hmmmmm. Very interesting. Since when does an ODP editor get to rank above everyone else with no backlinks?
The Google link: command is useless today. Check backlinks using other search engines. That site is PR6 because it has backlinks you aren't aware of.
A guy named Chris Raimondi is said to first have discribed/dicovered this issue, you may google for that name to find a page with a more detailed explanation or someone else may post a relevant url here.
But the searchnerd.com site seems to be down. There are copies of it elsewhere for those who know how to use a er, search engine. :)
For months, I waited for my site to be listed in the Google directory, as well as ODP.
In December I finally got listed in both.Today, I checked both and it's gone.
What the heck is going on?
Sounds like you were removed for whatever reason. Email the category editor and the editor over them to try and get a reason. Did you change something radically?
I wonder if being removed from the ODP directory had anything at all to do with my site disappearing from Google. I'm not in Google's directory anymore, obviously.
