i havent seen changes as big as this for a long time. Its like when everything started going topsy turvy a few months ago. major increase in the number of reported pages for each search, big changes with the number of sites completely dropped from good positions and others dropped a page lower than usual. For the first time i see this across the board and not just for selected searches. Anyone else seeing this?

Actually, I was rather surprised last night to see a search term that normally returns 250 mill results only returning 56 mill. I could not find the datacenter as those results did not show on any of the 10 I normally look at for this type of problem. It then went to 35 mill results about an hour later, all of these showing for www, and no changes in my hosts file.

I would have to agree with you soapystar, I'm also seeing some major changes taking place. Not only are the results drastically changed but there's also been around a 50% increase in number of results for some keywords.

Please remove the veil from my eyes... I see nothing.

Oh... my blog descended on its title keyphrase.

Icky.

Not only that...

a redirect now rank #1 in a one word commercial query out of over 5M return.

Worst, the URL listed is not even in the index *huh?* It goes like this...

Widget
Description of widget
h*//e-widget-site.com/index.htm

when clicked, it redirect to a major provider h*//major-widget.com/affliate=xxxxx

checking for the backlinks of e-widget-site.com reveals that the URL is not in the index.

checking for the cache of e-widget-site.com/index.htm breaks the cache and instant redirect, possibly cloaking.

The rest of the listings from 2-10 are using techniques that most would call spam.

What does this mean to us? I say...it's okay now to use cloaking, redirects with 200 status, frameset works great too. Use it and Google will reward you with higher ranking.

Just my observation ;)

I am not seeing much difference in my rankings, but when I search for my main 2 word phrase that normally has 2,500,000 results, it now has 10,900,000 results! Wild.
